Microsoft Word Templates for EBooks 0
Why you need Microsoft word templates
I will assume that you are going to write your book in Microsoft Word, converting it to Adobe PDF to distribute it. To this end Microsoft Word templates can give you a head start by insuring that your EBook is laid out in a consistent and pleasing way.
Typically, the template should use consistent font styles and sizes to give a “print published” look to the file. Fonts such as (or derived from) Arial, Georgia, Trebuchet MS, Lucida or indeed the standard Times New Roman all work well. Also, you could modify the margins for easy reading, using 1” top and bottom margins and 1.25” left and right margins.
Even when using a template you still need to make sure you use the style types throughout (Title, heading 1, heading 2, normal, quote etc) or the automated table of contents won’t work well.
It would also be wise to add other finishing touches for a professional look. Use headings and footers on each page just as you find in the typical paperback. For example include the book title at the top of each content page and copyright information in the footer. You want readers to know they’re reading a book and not just a computer file.
So having established a consistent approach within your chosen template is the best way to write your EBook, which Microsoft word templates are out there? Here is a list of free and paid for templates. By the way Microsoft host a free how to create templates guide if you want to create your own.
